In 1982, the Anaconda Family Resource Center opened its doors to address the problem of child abuse in the southwestern rural area of Deer Lodge County. In 1989, the center received its 501(c)(3) status and in 2001, the counties of Granite and Powell were added. The total service delivery area for these three counties is 4888 square miles with a combined population of 19,427.

The mission of Anaconda Family Resource Center is to assure all families receive the basic skills, education, support, and encouragement necessary for the development of healthy families. All programs offered through the center are designed around this premise.

The initial focus for programs and services was intervention. The need for additional services became obvious and the center was expanded to include preventative services. In October of 2004, Donna’s House/Community Youth Center opened its doors to provide a safe place for youth to go while not in school.
